| Concert xylophones are 4 octave wide-bar instruments. The wider bars produce a fuller, better balanced sound. As with the soloist model, the concert xylophone features rails that fold in half like the resonators for easy transport by road, air or rail. Adams soloist and concert xylophones of Honduras rosewood are available with two bar tuning options, octave tuning and quint tuning, the first overtone is one octave higher than the fundamental. This results in a clear and brilliant sound. In quint tuning, the first overtone is a fifth above the fundamental and the second overtone is the octave above. This produces a short, penetrating attack that cuts through the largest ensemble. Quint tuning was used on the classic American xylophones of the 1930's and has remained popular on professional instruments. Gig bags available for all xylophones. | |||
